Ginger Wizard The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World Vinyl LP 2026
Tbc
Ginger Wizard returns with The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World, a collection that steps away from swords-and-sorcery storytelling towards a stranger mythology rooted in the natural world. The album channels the exploratory spirit of Bo Hansson while rejecting heroic quests in favour of earthbound myths, ancient organisms, and landscapes that feel both cosmic and tactile.
The project began after discovering Hansson’s Lord of the Rings LP in Prague, sparking a shift that led to a string of releases exploring fantasy through sound. From The Feast for the Dead King and Other Musical Themes, recorded at home with a raw, exploratory warmth, to Can I Choose My Own Psychopompos?, a semi-improvised séance created with collaborators from The Peter Jacksons, Ginger Wizard has continually reshaped his own mythos. With Bathysburg Tales, vocals from Joe Casey and Jakob Battick pushed the music toward a more cinematic, hallucinatory space.
The Curious Flora and Fauna of the Ancient World continues that evolution, presenting songs that bloom, creep, and shimmer like forgotten species under alien skies. Inspired by the mysteries of nature and the “ancient stuff” that mirrors fantasy, it feels alive—part archaeological dig, part psychedelic garden.
Currently working on a fictitious 1970s fantasy film soundtrack with The Peter Jacksons, Ginger Wizard continues to expand his strange universe. This album offers a new map to something ancient, beautiful, and unknown.
